2010 FUNDRAISING DINNER AND AUCTION

- A SELL OUT SUCCESS

The gift of caradi to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

caradi (friendship) by Lola Greeno and Natalie Holtsbaum

caradi is a work created with a mutual intent that it represent a bridge between two artists' ancestral backgrounds. A steady exchange of digital communication began a conversation that stretched across 42,000 years exploring symbols, considering various meanings embodied in materials, and reveling in both difference and similarity.
The artists' desire was to engage in craft as a continuation of tradition resulting in a suite of adornments translating their conversations. Embedded in the work are ideas and meanings, references to both dark and light aspects of their ancestral histories, and shared contemporary concerns.

caradi was created for the Alcorso Foundation's ninth annual fundraising dinner. Guests on the evening generously contributed to purchase the work as a gift to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Read more about this work and the artists.

The artists would like to thank: Linda Fredheim, Audrey Frost, Vicki West, SBBM, Penny Malone, Jonah Gouldthorpe, Sue McMahon, Rex Greeno and Joseph Hodgson.
